Dear Foster Families,
On behalf of myself, Mrs. Gamino, and the Foster Team we hope these times find you well and in good spirits despite all that is developing surrounding the COVID-19 virus (Coronavirus). We would like to provide updated information regarding our school and know that we miss you all tremendously. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigated changes and redesign our practices to support our school community. As you are aware, in an abundance of caution Foster Elementary will be closed until further notice. I realize this may be disappointing news for many and this can be a challenging time, but the intent is to keep our families safe and healthy. COVID-19 is an unprecedented event and we are working to ensure high achievement for every child, every day. Part of this process is to create workable solutions to problems and obstacles that we didn’t know existed prior to this situation. Foster Elementary is committed to ensuring students be provided instruction to further their learning, therefore, learning will continue in an effective, productive way - until we can see each other in person again.
While we know that face-to-face instruction is critical to learning, we have been busy building systems with our teaching staff to enable them to conduct direct instruction through a virtual experience. While not perfect, we will be doing the best we can to adapt in these trying times. All teachers have weekly contact with students and lessons are interactive using WebEx and Google Meet. Teachers additionally provide assignments for students to complete during the day. Teachers are communicating with students and parents using Class Dojo, Remind, Google Classroom, emails, WebEx, Google Meet and the telephone. Please be sure to stay in contact with the teacher to keep up to date on instruction and assignments. You can also email me, Mrs. Gamino, Mrs. Pimentel, or the teacher if there are any questions.
Please know that the Foster Team is doing all we can to ensure that we serve our students who trust us to help build their futures. We are committed to students, teachers, and our community. Please stay safe and healthy! We miss our Foster students and their families J
