Foster Elementary Hosts Family STEAM Night

The event welcomed students from transitional kindergarten through fifth grade, for an evening of creativity and learning alongside their families. Attendees embarked on a journey through various STEAM stations and activities, each designed to engage and inspire educational lessons. From making snow to experimenting with sensory balloons and crafting slime, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

"By attending these events together, families can bond over their learned experience," Foster Elementary Principal Carmen Caballero said. "In turn, they can go home and try things that they saw at school.”

A unique feature of Family STEAM Night was the "STEAM Passport" given to each student. Equipped with this passport, families ventured through four designated stations together, experiencing hands-on learning and bonding over shared discoveries. Former students even returned to join in the festivities, adding to the sense of community and tradition surrounding the event.

In a collaborative effort, teachers and staff members came together to ensure the event’s success. Additionally, THINK Together, the after school learning program, contributed two stations to the lineup of activities.

"Family STEAM Night provides our students with a fun, hands-on learning experience," Principal  Carmen Caballero said. "It's a testament to the power of community and the value of fostering a love for STEAM subjects from an early age."
